Which Japanese food would residents of Japan recommend to people from other countries? There is a lot of delicious food to choose from! A new survey asked 600 Japanese adults this question and sushi was the most popular answer. About 64% of people said they would recommend sushi to people in other countries. Forty-three percent of people said they would recommend tempura, while others said they'd recommend onigiri. The survey was done by a company called Suzumo. It uses machines to make sushi, as well as things like rice balls. Many people also said they'd recommend sukiyaki — a dish made from meat and vegetables. One of the best things about eating Japanese food in Japan is that it uses local ingredients. Some people say it's the ingredients that really make the food taste great. The adults who took part in the survey were also asked how people abroad could make Japanese food of their own. Perhaps they can't! Thirty-six percent of people said that you'd need to find ingredients that are of the same quality and taste as those in Japan. However, others accepted that Japanese food could still be enjoyed when made using techniques and ingredients from other countries. Japanese food is very popular around the world. But one of the things that brings tourists to Japan is the chance to taste traditional dishes made by local chefs.
